Young Friends of HSMO

 

The Young Friends of the Humane Society is a board of young professionals who organize fun and educational events to raise crucial funds and awareness for the Humane Society of Missouri to further their mission of preventing the abuse and neglect of animals through Adoption, veterinary care, rescue and rehabilitation. Young Friends of HSMO logo

Meetings
The board meets monthly on a date/time determined at first board meeting. Volunteers are welcome to attend but not required. Board members and volunteers are required to attend fundraising events as outlined above and welcome to attend networking happy hours and events.

Membership Fee
Board members and volunteers both pay a $40 annual membership fee used to cover Young Friends expenses with excess proceeds going directly to the Humane Society of Missouri. Due January 31st of each year or upon joining the Young Friends of HSMO. Membership fees includes a volunteer shirt.

Please review the following positions with the Young Friends of HSMO. Then, complete your information below to submit your application!


President and Vice President *

  • Maintain annual schedule
  • Request resources from HSMO Staff Member
  • Create and share monthly meeting agenda
  • Report fundraising progress to HSMO Staff Member
  • Volunteers at a minimum of 4 events per year and as needed
  • Provides raffle items and solicits a minimum of $500 for 4 major events per year

Secretary and Treasurer*

  • Posts meeting minutes in less than 7 days of monthly board meeting
  • Maintains fundraising total and follow-up to collect funds
  • Maintains membership fees and benefits
  • Maintains Google Drive and Gmail Accounts
  • Volunteers at a minimum of 4 events per year and as needed
  • Provides raffle items and solicits a minimum of $500 for 4 major events per year

Sponsorship Chair*

  • Oversee and follow up on all sponsorship requests
  • Create and approve sponsorship packet for all events
  • Ensure sponsors receive all benefits and thank you note
  • Volunteers at a minimum of 4 events per year and as needed
  • Provides raffle items and solicits a minimum of $500 for 4 major events per year

Logistics Chair*

  • Plan and communicate event logistics including but not limited to:
  • Start times and location for Social Media Chair
  • Resources needed for registration and event with HSMO staff
  • Number of volunteers needed with Volunteer Chair
  • Volunteers at a minimum of 4 events per year and as needed
  • Provides raffle items and solicits a minimum of $500 for 4 major events per year

Marketing and Social Media Chair*

  • Create and manage all events on Facebook page
  • Post engaging content leading up to the event
  • Advertise events through community sources, i.e. radio, newspaper, etc.
  • Partner with HSMO Staff to promote events to their audience

Membership Chair*

  • Organize Young Friends to adequately staff all events
  • Plan service and happy hour engagement events (4 per year)
  • Manage Facebook group
  • Plan recruitment efforts for Young Friends as needed

HSMO Staff Member

  • Maintain communication with President and Vice President
  • Provide resources, budget and limitations to board
  • Update budget with Treasurer when money is received

Young Friends of The Humane Society of Missouri

  • Volunteers at a minimum of 2 events per year
  • Provides raffle items a 2 major events per year

*Appointed positions, generally after 1-2 years of service
