MASCOT CONTEST

Rules and Guidelines

To Nominate Your Dog

1. Your testimonial should tell us why your dog is special and why he/she has overcome adversity, how he/she has impacted you and/or your family, how he/she has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
2. Entries must include:
   a. Your pet’s name, breed and age
   b. Your name, address, phone number and
   e-mail address

Electronic photos should be submitted as a hi-res
(at least 300 dpi).jpg file attachment.

Don’t have an electronic version of your photo?
Mail your photo (no larger than 5x7) and testimonial to us at:

All entries must be received by Friday, December 4, 2009 at 5 p.m.

Eligibility

1. Nominated dogs must:
   

   a.	be spayed or neutered
   b.	have good manners in public
   c.	be available (with owner/family member) for public appearances to promote the Humane Society of Missouri and Bark in the Park without compensation, which may include, but is not limited to print, television and radio.
   d.	be available to attend Bark in the Park on Saturday, May 15, 2010

2. Photos submitted should feature the nominated dog with the owner/family member(s) photos only showing the dog will not be considered.
3. Testimonials must be 300 words or less
   
4. Photos, electronic images and essays will not be returned and will become the property of the Humane Society of Missouri, which reserves the right to reproduce, publish and or exhibit them without compensation to the entrant.
   
5. A likeness of the winner will be created at the discretion of the Humane Society of Missouri.

Humane Society of Missouri full and part-time employees are not eligible to nominate Humane Society of Missouri employee-owned dogs for the Bark in the Park Official Mascot Contest.

Employees are eligible to participate in the voting process beginning 12/16/09 and ending 1/15/10.

Selection Process

The 2010 Bark in the Park Mascot Contest is sponsored by the Humane Society of Missouri and Purina®. Contest entries are judged by the 2010 Bark in the Park event team and selection will be based on the adherence of the contest rules listed above and the story you tell through the testimonial in 300 words or less.

The TOP 3 entries will be featured at www.hsmo.org/bark and the Official Mascot will be selected by public vote. The dog who gets the most votes claims the title!

Dec. 4 - Deadline for entries at 5 p.m.
Dec. 16 - Online voting begins
Jan. 15 - Online voting ends at 11:59 p.m.

Prizes Awarded 

GRAND PRIZE

• The Official Mascot of Bark in the Park 2010 will receive a one-year supply of
  Purina® One Dog Food along with 4 complimentary VIP passes to Bark in the Park on May 15, 2010. VIP passes include entry into the Champagne Brunch Tent at the event.
  
• As the Mascot, the winner will lead thousands of dog-lovers and their four-legged friends on the Walk for Animals at Bark in the Park in Forest Park on May 15, 2010.
  
• The Mascot’s likeness and his/her story will be featured in the Spring 2010 issue of Tails, the Humane Society of Missouri’s quarterly magazine (circ. 50,000).
  
• The winner will also appear in Bark in the Park e-mails, on thousands of posters and flyers as well as on the commemorative Bark in the Park t-shirt sold at Humane Society of Missouri Gift Shop locations and at the event.

SECOND & THIRD PLACE
The second and third place winners will each receive a six-month supply of Purina® Brand Dog Food along with 2 complimentary VIP passes to Bark in the Park 2010. VIP Passes include entry into the Champagne Brunch Tent at the event.

THE ENTOURAGE
Ten additional pooches will be selected to walk alongside the Mascot at Bark in the Park as his/her entourage. Members of the entourage will receive 2 complimentary Bark in the Park registrations to attend the event.
