Dogs rescued in the July 8 raid of multiple suspected dog fighting operations.

The more than 400 dogs rescued last week by the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force are now receiving veterinary exams and treatment, nutritious food, water and care from dedicated staff and volunteers in facilities set up just for them.

The dogs were seized as part of an eight-state dog fighting investigation that involved state and federal authorities and resulted in multiple arrests. Humane Society of Missouri animal cruelty investigators provided the information that lead to the investigation. The next step for the dogs will be individual behavior evaluations conducted by a team of Humane Society of Missouri experts along with others including representatives from the ASPCA. Micah loves animals. On Saturdays, one of her favorite things to do is visit the animals at the Humane Society. On one of these trips, she visited Sugar, a dog who was there because her family could no longer afford to keep her. Micah went back to school and told her teacher, Mrs. Delaney and her 2nd grade class at Grace Christian Academy all about Sugar. Read more.

Medical Challenges of Puppy Mill Dogs

My dog was rescued from a puppy mill. What kinds of medical challenges will she face?

Puppy Mill Survivor

Thank you for giving one of these special dogs a second chance in your home with your family. With lots of love and attention, these dogs can become wonderful best friends.

However, because of the deplorable conditions in which many animals live in puppy mills, they face numerous health and behavior issues, some of which may last throughout their lifetimes. Read more.
