A dog suffers from a severe skin infection.

Many of the dogs, including this Labradoodle, are severely matted and filthy.

"Even the Puppies Looked Sad."
This observation said it all about yesterday's rescue of 18 filthy, matted dogs from a licensed breeder in Lawrence County, MO. Working in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA), the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 16 adult dogs and two puppies who are suffering from a variety of health issues.
One dog is blind, and others are afflicted with severe skin infections, eye problems, and matting. The rescued breeds include: Standard Poodle, Pekingese, Havanese/Shih Tzu, Labradoodle and French Bulldog.
The breeder repeatedly failed inspections and could not comply with stricter standards of care established by the Canine Cruelty Prevention Act. The dogs could not access outside areas for exercise and the flooring in their kennels was inadequate.
These rescued animals are now being cared for at the Humane Society of Missouri. Our Veterinary Medical Center is evaluating their health issues and treatment will begin right away.
Please make a gift and help us provide the care they deserve.
Your support makes it possible for our Animal Cruelty Task Force to investigate more cases and provide second chances for the many thousands of animals who are still waiting to be rescued.
With kindest regards,
Kathy Warnick President
P.S. - Most
of these animals will require many weeks of treatment before they are
healthy and ready to be adopted. Please check www.hsmo.org regularly for
more information.
