Trooper, five days after rescue

Trooper, one month after rescue
|
All too often, animal abuse goes unpunished. But last week, thanks to the hard work of the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force, punishment was served in the case of Trooper, the 6-month-old puppy who made national headlines after being dragged behind a truck on November 21, 2012.
From the very first day Trooper was rescued, Humane Society of Missouri cruelty investigators worked tirelessly canvassing neighborhoods, conducting interviews and gathering evidence to find out who would do such a horrible thing to an innocent animal. They discovered video surveillance tape of Trooper being tied to the truck. This footage was key in arresting the ex-wife of the truck driver, who has now been charged with animal abuse.
We would like to thank the St. Louis City Police Department and Circuit Attorney's office for taking Trooper's case seriously. We are grateful for their hard work, and appreciate them working with our Animal Cruelty Task Force to ensure a just outcome.
By taking these measures to protect dogs like Trooper, we send the message that there is no excuse for animal abuse and it will not be tolerated.
Trooper is still recovering at the Humane Society of Missouri and it will be at least a month or two before he may be available for adoption. His dramatic rescue and recovery has touched the lives of all of us caring for him, and we appreciate your continued support.
Kind Regards,
Kathy Warnick, President Humane Society of Missouri
